Programming Crystals

The repeating chemical structure of crystals is said to invest them with a kind of memory. This means that crystals have the power to hold energies. You may hold a quartz crystal with the intention of filling it with your love. This is what is meant by programming a crystal. You do not need any wires or a special connection with God - all you need is intention and focus. The crystal will remember your love, which will then permeate any environment in which the crystal is placed. 

On the other hand, if you just obtained  a new crystal, either by selecting it yourself or having received it as a gift what is it that you should do ? Some people wish to dedicate their crystal to a Higher Power before usage ... 

First thing  is to clear your gemstone or crystal, then it is a good idea to dedicate it or program it. The purpose of programming a crystal or gemstone is to focus its abilities on something you specifically need, thereby magnifying the stone's intent through your own. The purpose of dedicating the stone to a high level healing energy or Goddess (God) is to protect it from negative energy.

 Crystals can remember negative as well as positive energies and so will sometimes need to be cleansed. For instance, an amethyst will actually help to cleanse a room of negative energies (eg. anger) but this means that the amethyst, which will retain an element of that negative energy, will itself occasionally require cleansing.

There are various ways of cleansing crystals. One of the most common is to submerge them in salt water (sea water is excellent) for a couple of days, then run them under the tap to clean off the salt. Other methods include burying crystals in the garden for a few daysunder the Earth, or  leaving them for a while in a stream (pick a slow-running one, or they may no longer be there when you come back for them!) or leaving them outside overnight in normal water to bask in the moonlight. 

Crystals can also be kept in the Sunlight for re charging but not all of them are recommended for keeping in Sunlight. And , as per the Energy received from the Moonlight be sure to keep them out during Full or New Moon only. They can also be kept in a bowl of Brown Rice . Another alternative way is to cleanse them in a smoke of dried white Sage Leaves. You can also keep the Crystals in a Tibetan singing bowl for re charging.
